Roast is a Base-78 coding language developed by Darryl Jones for succinct machine communication, harmonic context, and oracle systems. Designed for entertainment and education, it carries immense practical application across governance, trade, commerce, simulation, AI, and divination. The philosophy: leverage traditional oracles to achieve better outcomes. Every operator has a personality, every program tells a story, and debugging becomes character analysis.

The Base-78 character set maps directly onto the tarot's internal structure. The 22 Major Arcana characters (backtick, digits, and symbols) encode the highest-order archetypal operators. The 56 Minor Arcana characters (the remaining symbols and all QWERTY letters, lowercase then uppercase) encode the operational and relational layer - court cards, suits, and the numbered arc across four elements.

The cipher runs in a deliberately chosen sequence: the backtick ` for the zeroth archetype, then digits 1–9, 0 for the first ten, followed by fourteen punctuation and symbol characters (- = ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ +), then all 26 lowercase QWERTY letters in keyboard-row order (q w e r t y u i o p → a s d f g h j k l → z x c v b n m), and finally the same 26 in uppercase. That accounts for 78 unique, universally typeable characters - one per card, no collisions.

A Unified Field Theory of Symbolism

Roast-78 is not a random assortment of associations, nor can it be exclusively categorised as a modern synthesis. It is a unified field theory of symbolism that presupposes an ancient geographic network of communication, symbolic language, and codified philosophy. It is a framework for analysing and intuitively phase-correcting astrotheological systems on a global scale - through universal archetypes that dovetail with geolocational oracles. The Anagramic language of which Roast-78 is a part treats the oracle deck not as a medieval European artefact but as a surviving interface for a much older, globally distributed knowledge system.

The origins of tarot are routinely connected to the Italian card systems of the Renaissance, known as Tarocchi. Experts in tarot, alongside those with more expansive esoteric or direct knowledge, frequently trace those origins much further - to Ancient Egypt, and to the mythical Atlantis. Within the Roast framework, the two claims are not mutually exclusive: Renaissance Tarocchi may be a regional crystallisation of a symbol set whose deep structure is genuinely ancient. The mathematical precision of the 78-card system - Mercury's 88-day orbit, the 52-week solar year, the 25,920-year Great Year - suggests the deck encodes astronomical knowledge that predates any documented card game.

In this context, Tarot is sometimes used as a synonym for other oracle systems, owing to well-established (though sometimes contested) correspondences between the 78-card index and planetary, elemental, and zodiacal systems. And the Roast-78 synthesis - incorporating tarot, runes, hieroglyphs, I-Ching, Kabbalah, Human Design, and 25+ language traditions into a single indexed framework - functions as a kind of global Rosetta Stone of meaning: a single coordinate system for navigating the world's symbolic inheritance.

Why Keyboard Characters?

Any device with a keyboard can express a full oracle reading in Roast-78. A ten-card Celtic Cross becomes a ten-character string. A daily draw is a single keystroke. The system is deliberately low-tech at its output layer: no special fonts, no Unicode blocks, no image dependencies. Paste a Roast-78 string into any text field, SMS, or chat message and the full symbolic meaning travels with it - readable by anyone who knows the cipher.

The key layout is not arbitrary. The QWERTY rows follow the physical geometry of the hands on a keyboard, which Darryl has mapped to elemental and energetic principles within the oracle framework. The top row (digits and symbols) corresponds to formative and transitional archetypes; lowercase letters to the active minor and court card sequence; uppercase letters to a secondary layer of the same sequence with shifted resonance.

Critically, QWERTY is a sequence the human brain already holds by muscle memory. This means constructing intentional Roast-78 strings - ordered runs, skip-step patterns, keyboard-row groupings - is cognitively natural rather than arbitrary. A practitioner can build a logical sequence in their head, navigate the index intuitively, and encode readings as memorable strings without consulting a reference table. The order is a tool, not just a label.

The Alphabet Discovery: Major Arcana + the Four Aces

Running parallel to Roast-78 is a separate structural discovery: the 26 letters of the English alphabet map exactly onto the 22 Major Arcana plus the 4 Aces (one per element - Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles). A through V cover the full Major Arcana sequence from The Fool to The World; W through Z are the four Aces. The count is exact - 26 letters, 26 cards.

Where Roast-78 encodes the complete deck, this relationship operates on a different register. It means any word in the English language is already a tarot sequence. A name, a place, a phrase - all carry latent Major Arcana and elemental meaning when read through this lens. It does not replace Roast-78's full-index logic; it runs alongside it as a contextual modality that bridges natural language and the highest-order symbolic layer of the deck.

The two systems do not conflict - they address different scales. Roast-78 encodes all 78 archetypes with complete parity and keyboard-native mnemonic logic. The alphabet cipher zooms in on the 26-card cosmological layer and finds it hidden in ordinary writing. Together they suggest that the structure of the oracle was always present in the tools we already use every day.

A Programming Language with Character

In Roast, every operator embodies an archetypal personality with defined motivations and behavioral logic. The Hero genuinely wants to unite things. The Rebel actively seeks to highlight differences. The Dreamer is idealistic and requires perfection. The Jester finds flexible alternatives. The Trickster introduces chaos. The Alpha dominates and consolidates. Code reads as narrative - programs unfold like stories, with character interactions, conflicts, and resolutions.

Applications include game development (NPCs governed by archetypal operators), AI and machine learning (training models with archetypal behavior patterns), blockchain (smart contracts that embody character-driven logic), and divination systems where code channels archetypal energies for decision-making. Combined with SATOR squares and geolocation, location-aware archetypal computation becomes possible - the Hero operator behaving differently in different geographic regions, or the Trickster's chaos influenced by spatial palindromic patterns.

Syntax Architecture

Each character carries an optional reversal prefix - a leading ' (apostrophe) marks the card as reversed. Without it, the card is upright. Arrays are delimited by /, major sections by ;, and process blocks by //. A ten-card spread or multi-array program follows the pattern:

The mathematical relationships encoded in the 78-card system are structurally precise. The tarot functions as a multi-scale astronomical calendar encoding cosmic cycles from daily Mercury orbits to civilizational Great Year periods spanning 25,920 years.

Key exact relationships: Mercury's orbital period is 88 days - equal to 22 Major Arcana × 4 Aces exactly. Mars opposition cycles are 780 days - exactly 78 × 10, giving 10 days per card with no remainder. The solar year has 52 weeks - equal to the 52 numbered and court cards exactly. The Great Year of precession spans 25,921.999974 years - divided by 78 gives approximately 332.3r years per card. The 6-year lunar calendar distributes 13 lunar months over 6 years as a complete 78-card cycle.

The 26 letters of the English alphabet represent the surviving one-third of this original 78-component unified system: 26 × 3 = 78. The Semitic alphabet's 22 characters correspond to the 22 Major Arcana. What Western scholarship compartmentalizes as separate disciplines - language, timekeeping, divination, and astronomy - may have originally been a single integrated knowledge system, preserved and transmitted through symbolic, portable formats.

How It Appears in the App

Select Roast-78 as your symbol class from the deck selector and every tile on the map renders its keyboard glyph instead of a tarot image or hieroglyph. Hovering over any tile shows its Roast-78 value in a floating indicator. Every sacred location in the Omniport Atlas is tagged with its Roast-78 association, so the cipher also functions as a geomantic addressing system for place. In print reports, each card’s Roast-78 character appears alongside its traditional names and sacred script equivalents.

Not just a programming language - a computational mythology system where every program becomes a story, every algorithm embodies ancient wisdom patterns, and the English alphabet turns out to have been hiding the Major Arcana in plain sight all along.

The Four Line Types

Each planet produces four distinct lines corresponding to the four angles of the chart. The MC line (Midheaven) is a vertical meridian marking where the planet culminated directly overhead - career, public identity, the summit of ambition. The IC line (Imum Coeli) is its opposite meridian - roots, home, ancestral ground, the private self. The Ascendant line curves across latitudes tracing where the planet was rising on the eastern horizon - self-presentation, first impressions, physical vitality. The Descendant line mirrors it on the western horizon - relationships, partnerships, what you draw toward you.

Where any two lines cross is a power zone: both planetary archetypes are simultaneously active at that single coordinate. Where two lines of the same planet converge in a region - an ASC and MC line running parallel - the energy of that planet is doubled across the entire zone.

How the Lines Are Calculated

The backend uses Swiss Ephemeris running on a Python service deployed on Google Cloud. Birth time is entered in local timezone, converted to UTC, and resolved to a Julian Day number. From there, each planet's ecliptic coordinates are transformed to equatorial RA/Declination. MC and IC lines are vertical meridians derived from the planet's right ascension and the sidereal time at birth. Ascendant and Descendant lines are horizon curves - a spherical trigonometry calculation across 180 longitude steps that traces the latitude at which each planet was exactly rising or setting, with a standard atmospheric refraction correction of −0.5667° applied. Dateline crossings are handled automatically so lines render cleanly across the full globe.

Orb Zones

A line's influence extends beyond its exact position. The system uses three concentric orb zones. Within 100 miles (161 km) of a line is the exact zone - the most concentrated and intense expression of that planetary energy. Within 300 miles (483 km) is the strong zone - fully active, the best range for consciously working with a line's qualities. Within 700 miles (1,126 km) is the standard zone - the energy is present but more background and ambient.

Crossings & Parans

A crossing is a single geographic point where two planetary lines intersect. At that location both planetary archetypes are simultaneously active and their meanings compound. An ASC/MC crossing combines personal identity with career drive. An MC/DSC crossing links professional ambition with relationship energy. Every angle combination (ASC–ASC, MC–MC, ASC–MC, MC–DSC, and so on) has its own interpretive character.

A paran occurs when two planets occupy angular positions simultaneously at the moment of birth - one on the Ascendant while another is exactly on the MC, for example. This creates a latitude band running horizontally around the Earth. Anywhere you travel along that latitude, both planetary energies are simultaneously active. Parans operate across entire continents at a given latitude rather than at a single point, producing a more diffuse but geographically widespread influence.

Planets & Bodies Included

The ten classical bodies are calculated and confirmed accurate: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto. Extended bodies - Chiron, Ceres, Pallas, Juno, Vesta, Makemake, Haumea, Eris, Sedna, Black Moon Lilith, North Node, South Node - are implemented in the backend and available as optional overlays. Lines are colour-coded by planet across the full Mapbox globe with zoom, rotation, and layer toggling. Click any point on the map to cast a tarot reading tied to those exact geographic coordinates, or cross-reference against the sacred sites, leylines, and stellar field on the same globe.

Stellarcartography is an original form of astrology created by Darryl Jones. It projects the entire natal sky - both the visible hemisphere above the observer and the occluded hemisphere beneath the Earth - onto a living digital globe, so every star and constellation in a chart engages with actual geography. The result is an inference map of a subject's mythic world, anchored to real coordinates - derived from the fingerprint left by the galaxy at the moment of their birth.

The Dual-Hemisphere Principle

Standard sky maps show only half the sky - what a given observer can physically see from the ground. Stellarcartography renders both halves simultaneously, because the occluded stars still exert symbolic position relative to the Earth. The sky is not half; it is a sphere. A natal chart, read honestly, has to account for the stars on the far side of the planet as much as the ones overhead.

The method is straightforward in principle. Each star's right ascension and declination, combined with the moment's sidereal time, projects to a sub-stellar point on the Earth's surface - the exact ground point directly beneath that star at that instant. Stars above the subject's horizon populate a surface layer; stars below populate an occluded layer. Both layers are overlaid on the same globe with distinct visual treatment, so the whole celestial sphere participates in the chart at once.

Why It Matters

When the full stellar field is anchored to geography, constellations land on actual landscapes, cities, sacred sites, and leyline intersections. The pattern becomes a cartographic reading of a subject's inner mythology: which myths sit beneath their feet, which myths rise on their eastern horizon, which myths are buried on the far side of the world. It turns an abstract natal chart into a navigable terrain of meaning.

What Can Be Mapped

Anything with a datetime and a place of origin generates a chart. Stellarcartography maps people, couples and relationships, animals and pets, businesses and brands (founding moment), objects and structures (bridges, monuments, ships), and events (launches, ceremonies, broadcasts, first performances). Each subject gets a full dual-hemisphere stellar field projected onto its own globe, revealing the mythic landscape that surrounds it from the instant it came into being.

Method

Stellarcartography performs a full-sphere projection of 10,000+ catalogued stars (HIP/HD indexed), every IAU constellation, and associated deep-sky objects. The surface layer and the occluded layer are rendered with distinct styling so both remain legible on the same globe. The system is anchored to a Python ephemeris backend - the same infrastructure that drives the astrocartography planetary lines - so stellar positions are astronomically accurate for any moment in history or the present. Nothing is simplified to “just planets.” The whole stellar field participates.

Relationship to Astrocartography

Astrocartography plots ten planetary lines (MC, IC, Ascendant, Descendant) across the globe. Stellarcartography adds the full stellar field as its own geographic layer. The two are complementary rather than competing, and Tarotverse runs them on the same globe so the planetary lines and the dual-hemisphere stellar field can be read together.

Precedents & Kindred Traditions

The idea of tying stars to places is ancient. Stellarcartography stands in conversation with kindred traditions: Jim Lewis's AstroCartography (1970s, planetary-line mapping), the classical practice of parans / paranatellonta (rising-and-setting star pairings, formalised for modern astrology by Bernadette Brady's Starlight work and Paul Wright's fixed-star research), the sub-stellar point used for centuries in celestial navigation, and much older star-to-land dedications - the Giza-Orion correlation, Nabta Playa, Hopi katsina skymaps, and the Chinese xiu (lunar mansions) that underpin feng-shui landscape alignment. What is new here is charting a full dual-hemisphere natal stellar field across a live digital globe, and doing it for people, couples, animals, businesses, objects, and events as equally valid subjects.

Over 200 geometric grid overlays can be toggled onto the globe, spanning the full library of Platonic and Archimedean solids, classical sacred geometry, named geomantic traditions, regional leylines, and experimental anchor-point simulations. Every grid renders as a live GeoJSON layer with auto-fit zoom — select any combination and the map adjusts its bounds to show the full pattern.

The Becker-Hagens UVG Grid

The foundation of the library is the Unified Vector Geometry (UVG) Grid developed by William Becker and Bethe Hagens in the 1980s. It is built on a 120-faced polyhedron formed by combining the icosahedron and dodecahedron — the same geometric basis used in Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic research — and projected onto the Earth’s surface. The grid’s 62 primary nodes pass through or near a remarkable concentration of ancient sacred sites: the Great Pyramid at Giza, Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, Easter Island, the Tibetan Plateau, and dozens more. Becker and Hagens proposed this as evidence that ancient builders were working with a common global geometry, consciously or intuitively.

The standard UVG grid is anchored at 31.72°N, 31.2°E (Great Pyramid / Giza). Tarotverse renders every sub-component of this grid separately so they can be layered and cross-referenced: the basic diamond-grid lines, yin and yang polarity networks, the nested cube and tetrahedron frames, and a balance overlay showing equilibrium axes.

Platonic Solids

All five Platonic solids — Tetrahedron, Cube, Octahedron, Dodecahedron, Icosahedron — are available as independent globe-projected grids, anchored to the UVG origin point. The Platonic solids are the geometric atoms of classical cosmology: Plato assigned each to an element (fire, earth, air, water, and the cosmos/ether). Overlaying them onto actual geography reveals which landscapes fall on the vertices, edges, and face-centres of each form. The dodecahedron in particular produces nodes that cluster densely around ancient monumental sites.

Archimedean & Catalan Solids

Thirteen Archimedean solids extend the Platonic set with semi-regular forms whose faces combine two or more polygon types: Cuboctahedron, Icosidodecahedron, Rhombicosidodecahedron, Rhombicuboctahedron, Snub Cube (dextro & laevo), Snub Dodecahedron (dextro & laevo), Truncated Cube, Truncated Cuboctahedron, Truncated Dodecahedron, Truncated Icosahedron, Truncated Icosidodecahedron, Truncated Octahedron, and Truncated Tetrahedron. The Truncated Icosahedron is the geometry of the football and the C60 Buckminsterfullerene molecule; its projected grid passes through a distinct set of cultural and sacred sites.

Thirteen Catalan solids are the duals of the Archimedean set — each face of an Archimedean solid becomes a vertex in its Catalan dual, and vice versa. They include the Deltoidal Hexecontahedron, Disdyakis Dodecahedron, Disdyakis Triacontahedron, Pentakis Dodecahedron, Rhombic Dodecahedron, Rhombic Triacontahedron, Tetrakis Hexahedron, Triakis Icosahedron, Triakis Octahedron, Triakis Tetrahedron, and their pentagonal variants. Their grid lines tend to be denser and more finely subdivided than the Archimedean originals, producing a tighter mesh suitable for regional-scale analysis.

Dual Geodesic Solids

Five dual geodesic patterns round out the polyhedron library: the Chamfered Dodecahedron, Dual Geodesic Icosahedron Pattern 7, Dual Geodesic Icosahedron Pattern 10, Truncated Pentakis Dodecahedron, and Truncated Pentakis Icosidodecahedron. These are higher-subdivision geodesic forms produced by iteratively chamfering or truncating the base polyhedra. Pattern 10 in particular generates a very fine global mesh with over 120 nodes — dense enough to be useful for sub-continental sacred geography work.

Alternate Anchor Points

Every Platonic, Archimedean, Catalan, and Dual Geodesic grid is also available anchored to four alternative origin points, each with its own cosmological significance:

Giza Corridors anchors the full grid set to the Great Pyramid at 29.979°N, 31.134°E, rotated 45° — aligning the grid axes with the cardinal orientation of the Giza plateau rather than the standard geographic cardinal. This produces a noticeably different node distribution across Europe and the Near East. Heaven’s Mirror uses the same Giza coordinate but rotated to 174.79°, the angle derived from Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval’s Heaven’s Mirror research into star-to-ground correlations across multiple ancient cultures simultaneously. Goddess Equator reanchors to 48.853°N, 2.35°E — the Paris Observatory, the pre-Greenwich prime meridian — and uses the triangle-face variant of the grid rather than the diamond-face, producing a rotated triangular mesh that runs a different set of node lines through Europe and North Africa. Kailash reanchors to 31.067°N, 81.313°E — Mount Kailash in Tibet, considered the world axis in Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Bon cosmologies — producing a grid that emphasises Asian sacred geography. Phi Point anchors to 25.292°N, 89.562°E, a coordinate selected for its phi-ratio relationship to the Giza baseline, and also includes the full Archimedean and Catalan sub-libraries at that origin.

Experimental Grids

Three experimental configurations push the grid system beyond its standard parameters. Becker-Hagens @40° keeps the Giza latitude anchor but shifts the longitude to 40.0°E — a speculative repositioning that moves the primary node cluster into the ancient Fertile Crescent and Anatolian highlands, passing through the sites of Göbekli Tepe and early Sumerian cities. Giza +23.5° applies a rotation of −23.436° to the Giza grid — precisely the Earth’s current axial tilt — modelling what the Giza-anchored grid would look like if aligned to the ecliptic plane rather than the geographic equator. Hermopolis simulation reanchors to 27.784°N, 30.802°E — the site of ancient Khemenu (Hermopolis Magna) in Middle Egypt, sacred to Thoth/Hermes — with a 36° rotation and rendered in the star face-variant of the grid, placing the six-pointed node pattern over a distinct set of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern sites.

Named Leylines & Geomantic Traditions

Beyond the geometric grids, the library includes five named geomantic traditions rendered as their own distinct layers:

The Apollo / Athena Axis is a classical alignment running from Skellig Michael off the Irish coast through Mont Saint-Michel in Normandy, Delphi in Greece, and onward to Mount Carmel in Israel — a line connecting seven major ancient sanctuaries of the solar and wisdom traditions across Europe and the Near East. The Vile Vortices are the twelve electromagnetic anomaly zones identified by Ivan T. Sanderson in 1972, located at equal intervals on an icosahedral distribution around the globe — the Bermuda Triangle and its eleven counterparts. The Great Circle of Ancient Sites documents the remarkable alignment of Stonehenge, Giza, Angkor Wat, Easter Island, and several dozen other ancient monuments within a single arc less than 1° wide — the great circle alignment studied by Jim Bowles and others as evidence of deliberate ancient placement. China Dragon Lines traces the five Taoist sacred mountain circuits and four Buddhist sacred mountain circuits of China, the landscape energy channels of Chinese geomantic tradition.

The St Michael Line is available as the primary UK regional leyline — the alignment running from St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall northeast through Glastonbury, Avebury, and Bury St Edmunds to the Norfolk coast, passing through an extraordinary concentration of Archangel Michael dedications, megalithic sites, and medieval pilgrimage routes.

Using the Grid System

All grids are accessed through the Leylines modal, which organises every overlay into named grid families with searchable subcategories. Select any item and the map auto-calculates its bounding box and zooms to fit the full pattern. Multiple grids can be active simultaneously and will overlay transparently, making cross-grid node analysis possible — for example, comparing where the Platonic Dodecahedron and the Hermopolis Star grid share nodes, or where the Apollo / Athena Axis intersects the Becker-Hagens primary diamond lines. Every active leyline layer sits beneath the oracle tiles, sacred site clusters, and astrocartography lines on the same globe, so geomantic and astrological readings can be made at the same coordinate simultaneously.

The Omniport Atlas is a hand-curated index of over 1,000 sacred locations worldwide — the most anomalous, mythically significant, and geomantically charged coordinates on Earth. Every entry carries full contextual metadata, precise GPS coordinates, and a Roast-78 esoteric address: a single keyboard character that encodes the site’s archetypal identity within the 78-card symbolic index.

What’s in the Atlas

The atlas spans eleven categories, each representing a distinct register of sacred geography. Megalithic sites include Stonehenge, Carnac, Göbekli Tepe, Karahan Tepe, Sacsayhuámán, Puma Punku, the Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae, Baalbek, and hundreds more standing stone complexes and cyclopean constructions whose engineering still defies easy explanation. Temples cover the full ancient world: the Temple of Abydos, Angkor Wat, Borobudur, the Tarxien Temples of Malta, and classical sanctuaries across Egypt, Greece, Mesoamerica, and South Asia. Pyramids span not just Giza and Teotihuacan and Chichén Itzá but lesser-known pyramid complexes across Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. Ruins document collapsed civilisations and ghost cities, including Nan Madol — the island city built on coral reef in Micronesia. Underground entries include Derinkuyu, the subterranean city in Cappadocia large enough to shelter 20,000 people. Underwater covers the Yonaguni Monument off Japan’s coast and other submerged anomalies. Mounds trace the earthwork traditions from Cahokia to Serpent Mound. Burials include Newgrange and the great passage tombs. Statues cover Easter Island’s Mo’ai and monumental figures across cultures. Artifacts include the Antikythera Mechanism — catalogued at the location of its discovery. And other catches the sites that resist easy classification.

How the Teleport Works

The Omniport panel sits in the main map interface as a persistent search and teleport tool. Type any name, category, or keyword and the atlas returns live results ranked by relevance — title matches first, then description and category matches. Select any result and the map executes an animated fly-to transition, moving the camera directly to that location’s exact coordinates with smooth easing. For spontaneous divination, a random port drops you at a site chosen from the full index — the oracle equivalent of opening a random page.

Once on location, everything in the map is available at those coordinates. Cast a tarot reading tied to the site’s exact GPS position. Overlay the astrocartography lines running through that point. Check which leyline grids pass through or near the site. Cross-reference with the stellar field from any birth chart. Every reading at an Omniport location is already geomantically positioned within a layered symbolic context — the site’s mythology, its Roast-78 character, and the live celestial and geometric field all converge at the same coordinate.

Roast-78 Addressing

Every Omniport location carries a Roast-78 character — a single keyboard glyph that positions the site within the 78-card symbolic index. Göbekli Tepe, Giza, Stonehenge, and Angkor Wat each resolve to a different archetypal address. This turns the atlas into a geomantic cipher: a practitioner can encode a journey, a pilgrimage, or a research sequence as a Roast-78 string, and the string carries both the symbolic meaning and the geographic itinerary simultaneously.

Tarotverse runs on a multi-layer Mapbox GL canvas. Some layers sit outside the formal Layers panel - base styles, live environmental feeds, the astrocartography engine, stellarcartography, and the leyline grid system each have their own dedicated controls. Everything else lives in the Settings → Layers tab, organised into groups that can be toggled individually.

Base Map Styles

Not a toggleable layer but the foundation everything else renders on. Seven Mapbox style presets are available: Street, Outdoors, Satellite, Day, Dusk, Dawn, and Night. Satellite strips all cartographic decoration and shows raw imagery. Day through Night are atmospheric presets tuned for different reading moods. 3D terrain is a separate toggle that adds Mapbox elevation extrusion to any base style - mountains, canyons, and coastlines rise from the surface. Animated fly-to transitions move the camera to any coordinate or sacred location with smooth easing.

Live Environmental Overlays (outside the Layers tab)

Weather radar pulls real-time global precipitation data from RainViewer - radar and satellite infrared imagery with animated multi-frame playback. The overlay sits above base styles but beneath point layers. Native Land is a dedicated GeoJSON layer (sourced from nativeland.ca) that overlays indigenous and First Nations territories worldwide, providing cultural context for geomantic readings at any location. Both are toggled from the map toolbar rather than the Layers panel.

Astrocartography Lines (outside the Layers tab)

Planetary astrocartography lines are generated on demand by the Python ephemeris backend - they are not static GeoJSON but computed arcs. Ten planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) each produce four line types: MC, IC, Ascendant, and Descendant arcs, colour-coded by planet. A personal chart requires a birth date, time, and location. Famous chart overlays for pre-computed historical figures (see below) are available as static GeoJSON and do appear in the Layers tab under Famous Charts.

Stellarcartography (outside the Layers tab)

The dual-hemisphere stellar projection renders 10,000+ catalogued stars as two simultaneous geographic layers - surface (visible sky) and occluded (beneath the Earth). Styled independently with distinct visual treatment. Controlled from the Stellarcartography panel, not the Layers tab. See the dedicated Stellarcartography section for full details.

Leylines & Sacred Geometry Grids (outside the Layers tab)

Layers Tab: Sacred & Spiritual Locations

Omniport Locations - the 1,000+ curated sacred sites from the Omniport Atlas, rendered as clustered gold circles. Separate from the broader sacred site datasets below.

World Sacred Sites (Martin Gray / sacredsites.com) - an independent global dataset of sacred places colour-coded in teal, clustered at zoom, with name labels.

Sacred Sites group - five sub-layers: Attractions & Landmarks (gold), Museums (purple), Libraries (blue), Buddhist Temples (amber), and Hindu Temples (deep red). Each is sourced per-country and clustered independently.

Megalithic Sites - a global megalith dataset (dolmens, standing stones, stone circles, passage graves) in violet, clustered.

Layers Tab: Historical & Ancient World

Ancient World (AWMC / Barrington Atlas data) - the most detailed historical geography group. Eight infrastructure layers: Ancient Roads, Aqueducts, Walls, Canals, Region Names, Ancient Cities (clustered), Ancient Shoreline, and Ancient Inland Water. Ten political shading layers: Alexander's Empire, Persian Empire, Hasmonean Kingdom, Herod's Kingdom, Roman Empire at 60 BCE, Roman Empire at CE 117, Roman Empire at CE 200 (extent), Roman Provinces CE 200, Post-Diocletian provinces, and Roman Senatorial Provinces - each as a translucent fill with its own colour.

Silk Roads - Route Branches (land routes in amber, maritime in blue, dashed lines), Major Hubs (clustered), and UNESCO World Heritage Sites along the corridor.

Great Wall of China - Wall Route as a continuous white line with zoom-dependent weight, and Passes & Forts as clustered orange circles.

Layers Tab: Natural World

Mountain Peaks - three tiers: Major Peaks (2,000m+) in gold with yellow stroke, Mountains (500–1,999m) in amber, and Hills (0–499m) in brown, each clustered at different zoom breakpoints.

Volcanic & Geological - six layers: Volcanoes (deep red/orange), Craters (crimson), Geysers (green), Meteorite Landings (amber), Sand Dunes (tan), and Deserts (yellow). All clustered.

Ice & Glacial - Glaciers in icy blue, clustered.

NIWA Flood Hazard is a separate group with five river-network line layers by return period: 2-year, 5-year, 10-year, 20-year, and a Cyclone Gabrielle scenario.

Planned Additions

Layers in development or planned for future releases include: asteroid bodies in astrocartography (Chiron, Ceres, Black Moon Lilith and others); chart crossing interpretations generating text for geographic points where two charts intersect; expanded famous chart library; earthquake data (USGS feed); light pollution overlay for stellarcartography context; ancient astronomical sites as a dedicated layer; and a Smart Oracle asset layer allowing practitioners to drop geo-tagged oracle assets and annotations anywhere on the globe.

Drawing & Art Studio

Draw directly on the map, the reading table, or the 3D modal with 9 tools - pen, brush, eraser, flood-fill, line, rectangle, ellipse, arrow, and text. Pick from 12 quick colours or use the custom picker. Adjust brush size and opacity, undo up to 50 levels, and export your creations as PNG.

3D Visualization

A full Three.js WebGL engine renders 3D card boxes, Crystal3D procedural terrain, billboard overlays, and custom GLB/GLTF models loaded onto the map. An interactive 3D modal provides detailed crystal inspection. Six lighting presets - Daylight, Golden Hour, Night Oracle, Dawn Ritual, Flat Studio, and Mystic Violet - affect both the map and every 3D context simultaneously, with ACES tone mapping, fog, directional and ambient lights with shadows, and overlay tint control.

The Sonic Tarot is an original instrument invented by Darryl Jones - a playable oracle that assigns a unique synthesized frequency to every one of the 78 tarot cards, derived from the planetary, zodiacal, and elemental correspondences embedded in each card's identity.

How Frequencies Are Derived

Each card's tone is computed from its astrological rulerships. The 22 Major Arcana are rooted in planetary carrier frequencies - Mercury at 141.27 Hz, Venus at 221.23 Hz, Earth at 194.18 Hz, Moon at 210.42 Hz, Sun at 126.22 Hz, and so on - cross-multiplied against their ruling zodiac sign frequency and scaled through a phi-based harmonic reduction. The 56 Minor Arcana use the same mechanism, applying the decan-level planet and sign assigned to each numbered card within each suit. Court cards draw from the suit's elemental frequency combined with the court rank's planetary modifier. No two cards share the same tone.

Elemental Waveforms

The Sonic Tarot maps the four classical elements onto the four fundamental waveforms of the Web Audio API oscillator. Fire is sawtooth - aggressive, overtone-rich, igniting. Water is sine - pure, continuous, oceanic. Air is triangle - light, hollow, airy harmonic structure. Earth is square - dense, grounded, overtone-laden. In Multi-Wave mode, a card's full elemental identity is expressed simultaneously: a card with Fire/Water duality plays sawtooth and sine oscillators blended together, producing a compound tone unique to that card's character.

The Circular 78-Key Interface

The playing surface is a concentric ring keyboard - five rings radiating outward from an Earth centre node. The innermost ring holds the 10 planetary bodies. The next ring carries the 12 zodiac signs. The third ring is the 22 Major Arcana. The outer two rings hold all 56 Minor Arcana, organized by suit arc. Pressing any node plays its computed frequency. The Earth centre acts as a reset and drone root. Every key is also mapped to a QWERTY keyboard shortcut - the full Base-78 Roast encoding - so the instrument can be performed live without a mouse.

Instrument Modes

Switch between Sine, Square, Triangle, Sawtooth, and Multi-Wave synthesis modes globally. Each mode transforms the entire instrument's tonal palette. Tones sustain for a natural 2-second envelope with linear attack and decay. The Mix toggle controls whether notes stack polyphonically or cut monophonically. A live frequency readout displays the computed Hz value for every note played, with the card name and keyboard shortcut shown in the status field.

Harmonic Logic Modes

A Logic selector shifts the calculation method for compound frequencies - Sum, Difference, Product, Mean, and Phi-scaled modes alter how planet and sign frequencies are resolved into a final pitch. This creates eight distinct tuning philosophies across the same 78-card map, producing an instrument with a vast tonal range rooted entirely in symbolic correspondence rather than arbitrary pitch assignment.

A real-time clock displaying solar time (longitude-based), local time, and a live numerological card linked to the current date and time mapped to Major Arcana 0–21. Over 30 portal times - mirror times, triple times, sequential patterns, and mathematical constants including π (3:14) and φ¹ (6:18) - count down in real time with colour-coded portal type indicators.

Card Knowledge Base

Each of the 78 cards carries over 80 data fields: element, suit, ruling planet and sign, chakra, crystal, incense, body and health associations, runes, ogham, Egyptian and Hebrew scripts, I-Ching hexagrams, Human Design gates, Jung/MBTI typology, story archetypes, frequency in hertz, animal associations, and translations in 25+ languages.

Interpretation Lenses

Every reading table has a persistent lens bar with 13 analytical perspectives. Each lens filters the 80+ field card database to a curated column set, coloured by tradition, so you can move fluidly between cosmological frameworks without leaving the reading.
